Reps Majority Leader, Julius Ihonvbere loses APC primary
Julius Ihonvbere, the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, has lost the All Progressives Congress APC primary for the Owan Federal Constituency.
The primary election, held on Saturday, was won by former Commissioner for Mining, Andrew Ijegbai. The result was announced shortly after voting by the returning officer, Kelvin Muhammed.
According to report, Ijegbai secured 3,695 votes to defeat Ihonvbere, who polled 1,005 votes. Other candidates included Abdul Oroh with 1,740 votes, Folly with 505 votes, and Scot with 642 votes, bringing the total votes cast to 7,587.
Reacting to his victory, Ijegbai praised the party leadership for conducting a transparent process and pledged to serve the people effectively if elected in the general election.
