Brazilian football icon Romario, aged 58, has announced his return from retirement to join the Brazilian club America Football Club in Rio de Janeiro, marking a comeback 15 years after exiting the sport.

Renowned for his triumphs including the 1994 World Cup victory and stints with PSV in the Netherlands and LaLiga giants Barcelona, Romario has officially enlisted as a player for America Football Club. Notably, he holds the position of club president and his son, Romarinho, also competes for the team.

In an Instagram announcement, Romario revealed that the opportunity to play alongside his son for his beloved team serves as his primary motivation for returning to the pitch.

While reports indicate that Romario will receive a “minimum wage” salary from the club, he intends to redirect the earnings back to America Football Club as a charitable donation, as per Marca.
