The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to commence training on Tuesday (today) ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Lesotho.

Members of the technical crew, led by Head Coach Eric Chelle, arrived at the team’s base in Polokwane, South Africa, on Monday to begin final preparations for the fixture.

The Match Day 9 encounter is scheduled for Friday at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, where the Crocodiles of Lesotho will host Nigeria in what is expected to be a tightly contested encounter.

According to Super Eagles Media Officer, Promise Efoghe, the players are expected to arrive in camp via Johannesburg from their respective club bases, having featured for their teams over the weekend.

World football governing body FIFA has appointed Chadian referee Alhadi Allaou Mahamat to officiate the match.

Nigeria currently sit third in their qualifying group with 11 points from eight matches, trailing Benin Republic and South Africa, who both have 14 points but are separated by goal difference.

The Super Eagles will be hoping to secure maximum points to keep their World Cup qualification hopes alive.
