Super Falcons draw 1-1 with Ethiopia in Paris 2024 Olympic qualifier

The Super Falcons of Nigeria secured a 1-1 draw against Ethiopia in the initial leg of the second round of qualifiers for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games in Addis Ababa on Wednesday, as reported by Completesports.com.

Ethiopia took an early lead in the 6th minute, with Birkie Amare finding the net after a scramble in front of the goal.

In the 52nd minute, the Falcons equalized when captain Rasheedat Ajibade volleyed in a long-range shot from outside the box.

In the 92nd minute, the Falcons appeared to have scored the winning goal when substitute Ifeoma Onumonu headed in, but it was disallowed for offside.

The second leg is scheduled for Tuesday, October 31, in Abuja.

The Super Falcons made their Olympic debut in Sydney 2000 and subsequently participated in Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008. However, they failed to qualify for the last three editions, missing out on London 2012, Rio 2016, and Tokyo 2020.
