Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has revealed that he faced pressure to shut down Goshen City of the Living Faith Church Worldwide in Masaka after Bishop David Abioye urged Christians to vote for Christian candidates during the last general elections in the state.

Bishop Abioye, the First Vice President of the Living Faith Church Worldwide and Senior Pastor of the Abuja church, encouraged Christians to vote for their faith and expressed concern about their safety, asserting, “I won’t vote for someone who will slaughter me.”

During a speech at the recently concluded 2023 Peace And Development Summit for Young University Students in Abuja, Governor Sule recalled the advice he received to close Goshen City and potentially order the arrest of Bishop Abioye due to his statements.

The Governor shared, “Some people came and advised me, let us check whether that church has paid their taxes; otherwise, close the church.

They said, let us send security to arrest him (Bishop Abioye) for making those kinds of statements, but I said no.”
