The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has taken a bold step by publicly disclosing the names of foreign embassies that are in arrears of ground rent in Abuja. The published list reveals that a total of $5.36 million is currently owed by these diplomatic missions.

In a memo titled “Final Notice on Payment of Outstanding Ground Rent in the FCT,” the affected organizations have been given a strict deadline of two weeks to settle their dues. The memorandum emphasizes that failure to comply within the stipulated time frame will result in the revocation of their titles.

The notice, directed at all allottees, property owners, and beneficiaries of Federal Government Houses in the FCT who have outstanding ground rents for the year 2023, serves as a clear warning for prompt payment. The Minister’s office has underscored the importance of timely settlement for the affected parties’ own benefit.
