A woman from Gboko has died at the Federal Medical Centre, Apir, in Makurdi, Benue State, after delivering triplets through a caesarean section.

Reports indicate that she gave birth prematurely and was first treated at a hospital in Gboko. However, her condition worsened, prompting her transfer to the Federal Medical Centre, Apir, for advanced care, where she later died due to complications.

The three newborns are currently in incubators and are receiving intensive medical attention.

The incident has drawn attention to the risks associated with complicated and multiple pregnancies, as well as challenges in maternal healthcare delivery.

The Idoma Ambassadors Forum expressed condolences over the tragedy, praying for the peaceful repose of the deceased and the survival of the children she left behind.

The development underscores the need for improved maternal health services, particularly in the management of high-risk pregnancies across Benue State.
