Young people across Apa–Agatu Federal Constituency in Benue State have been invited to apply for the third cohort of the Climate Change Community Trackers Fellowship (CCTF), a leadership and climate action programme designed to equip participants with practical skills in climate advocacy, leadership, storytelling and climate entrepreneurship.

The fellowship, organised by Education for Change Initiative for Young People, was officially launched in May 2026 as part of efforts to empower youths to become active contributors to climate resilience and sustainable community development.

According to the organisers, the programme has, over the last three years, evolved into a platform for mentoring and empowering young changemakers across the constituency.

The initiative disclosed that nearly 40 young people have benefited from the fellowship since its inception, with several participants reportedly going on to secure prestigious fellowships, jobs and internships, while others ventured into politics and community development initiatives.

This year’s edition will place stronger emphasis on climate entrepreneurship and practical climate solutions.

Participants are expected to gain exposure to innovations such as clean cooking technologies, solar off-grid systems, productive use of energy, renewable energy solutions and other locally adaptable approaches aimed at tackling climate challenges while creating economic opportunities.

The organisers said fellows would participate in virtual courses, mentorship sessions, live lectures, field visits, community projects and other practical learning experiences designed to prepare them for leadership and climate action.

Speaking on the launch of the programme, Executive Director of Education for Change Initiative for Young People, Apochi Nelson Owoicho, said the fellowship was aimed at building a new generation of young leaders committed to climate resilience and community development.

Applications for the Climate Change Community Trackers Fellowship (CCTF) Cohort III are open until May 31, 2026.
