English Championship side West Bromwich Albion welcomes Nigerian striker Josh Maja to their ranks, following his move from French second-tier club Bordeaux.

In an official statement released on Tuesday, the Baggies proudly announced the signing of Maja, who has already earned one cap for the Super Eagles. The 24-year-old marksman has committed to a three-year deal with the club, eager to showcase his skills and make a significant impact on the English football scene.

A notable addition to West Brom, Maja will have the opportunity to play alongside fellow Nigerian talent, the skilled Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi. The prospect of seeing these two national team stars combine their abilities on the field is a thrilling prospect for fans and pundits alike.

Last season, Maja’s impressive form at Bordeaux saw him secure 16 goals and deliver six assists, culminating in an impressive fourth-place finish in the final top scorers chart of Ligue 2. The young striker’s prowess in front of goal caught the attention of football enthusiasts worldwide and opened the door to new opportunities.

Maja’s football journey began when he made his professional debut for Sunderland in the Carabao Cup at a tender age of just 17. Demonstrating immense potential, he notched up an impressive tally of 15 goals from 24 league matches in the first half of the 2018/19 campaign, leading him to a move to Bordeaux.

Although his international experience with the Super Eagles remains limited, Maja’s one appearance in an international friendly against Ukraine on 10th September 2019 showcased his potential and determination to represent his country at the highest level. Coming on as a late substitute for Victor Osimhen, Maja played a crucial role in a thrilling 2-2 draw.
