Rivers crisis: What Wike told PDP governors about Fubara, Tinubu
New details have emerged from the highly-anticipated meeting between Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum, shedding light on the discussions that transpired during the gathering.
The meeting, which took place in Abuja, was prompted by the recent political crisis in Rivers State, a situation that had drawn significant attention and concern. Subsequently, the PDP governors extended a gesture of courtesy and support by visiting Minister Wike.
During the meeting, Minister Wike reaffirmed his unwavering allegiance to the main opposition party, assuring the gathered governors of his steadfast commitment to the PDP. Wike also declared that his visit to the Federal Capital Territory was aimed at assisting President Bola Tinubu in achieving his ambitious “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
He said, “I commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and also the PDP Governors’ Forum for stepping in to resolve the issues. It takes mature minds to be able to do that.”
The PDP Governors Forum was led by its chairman, Senator Bala Muhammed, who expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for appointing Minister Wike as the FCT minister. The chairman further commended President Tinubu’s dedicated efforts to mediate and resolve the political crisis in Rivers State.
In his remarks, Minister Wike lauded both President Tinubu and the PDP Governors Forum for their pivotal roles in resolving the state’s political turmoil. He emphasized the pressing need for mature and thoughtful leadership to navigate such complex challenges successfully.
Wike attributed the issues in Rivers State to his detractors and issued a resolute vow not to be deterred by social media propaganda or intimidation. He expressed his unwavering commitment to doing what he believes is right and extended his heartfelt thanks to the forum for their visit. Minister Wike assured the governors and the nation that he would continue working diligently to help President Tinubu realize his ambitious agenda, which aims to renew the hope of the citizenry.
Senator Muhammed, acknowledging Wike’s appointment as FCT Minister by President Tinubu, praised the president’s commendable bipartisan leadership style. He highlighted the fact that Wike’s dual responsibilities, both within the party and the FCT administration, served as a testament to the president’s leadership in the nation.
The senator also lauded Wike’s notable contributions to Rivers State and the PDP, expressing his full support for Wike’s bipartisan responsibilities.
