Tinubu returns to Lagos after weeks-long working vacation

President Bola Tinubu has returned to Lagos after concluding his working vacation in France.

Tinubu arrived at the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, on Tuesday, where Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other dignitaries received him.

The President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Olusegun Dada, confirmed his arrival in a post on X, saying, “Landing. Welcome home, Mr President!”

Tinubu left Abuja on August 30 for the working vacation. He spent a week in London before travelling to Paris.

According to the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu travelled from Paris to Lagos to meet political leaders and associates.

The meetings are expected to focus on preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The Presidency also said Tinubu chose Lagos as his first destination after France to honour the late Chief MKO Abiola, who won the June 1993 presidential election.

Tinubu is expected to attend the premiere of a film celebrating Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu on October 1, Nigeria’s Independence Day.

During his stay in France, the President also held a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron.
