Buhari’s Foundation owns plot – Garba Shehu responds to FCTA land revocation claims

Former presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, has dismissed reports claiming that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) revoked a plot of land belonging to former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Shehu clarified on Wednesday that the land in question was legally acquired for the Muhammadu Buhari Foundation, not for Buhari personally. He explained that the plot was allocated to the Foundation, which was established by Buhari’s associates, with full legal authorization.

Shehu further revealed that the Foundation encountered difficulties with the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) due to what he described as an unusually high certificate of occupancy fee, which was significantly greater than what similar organizations were charged.

While the reasons behind the FCTA’s revocation remain unclear, Shehu suggested that it could be an administrative error or possibly a deliberate action.

Additionally, Shehu pointed out that Buhari already owns a personal plot in Abuja, allocated to him before his presidency. During his time in office, Buhari had turned down an offer for another land plot, requesting that the allocation go to those who were landless.

Shehu urged critics to verify facts before making accusations, emphasizing the importance of distinguishing between Buhari’s personal matters and those related to the Foundation. He also warned against involving the former president in unnecessary controversies.
