The victims were allegedly lured into the bush under the guise of resolving the land issue, only for their headless bodies to be later discovered.
PUNCH Metro reported that Mrs. Atagoshi, a secondary school teacher, had purchased the land in question, but it was later contested by others in the community.
Delta State Police spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, stating, “The suspect called the woman to discuss the land matter, then led her and her father into the bush where they were killed and beheaded.”
On the same day, vigilantes apprehended one Emeke, who was found with two human heads. He was mobbed and set ablaze by enraged residents. The heads were later identified as those of the father and daughter.
DSP Edafe further revealed that the primary suspect is on the run, but efforts are ongoing to apprehend him.
