Soldier arrested for stealing is fake – Army
The Nigeria Army has debunked the news making the rounds that one of it’s officers is reportedly involved in a theft case.
The Army made the disclosure in a press statement by lieutenant Colonel OM Daudu, the Acting Deputy Director of the Nigerian Army Public Relations.
Below is the excerpt of the press statement;
“SOLDIER ARRESTED FOR STEALING IS FAKE
1. The attention of Headquarters 81 Division Nigerian Army has been drawn to a fake soldier who paraded himself as “Lance Corporal Shedrack Christopher, – an attached personnel to 55 Army Signal Unit, Arakan Barracks”. The fake soldier was arrested for stealing cellphones at a hotel in Ijanikin part of Lagos State.
The Division wishes to state categorically that there is no serving soldier by name Lance Corporal Shedrack Christopher in 55 Signal Communication Command as falsely claimed by the “soldier”.
2. Furthermore, during initial questioning, the fake soldier has made spurious claims of been an aid to Major General Mohammed at Army Headquarters, Abuja and has served in the North East for Five Years without being granted pass/leave, – claims that are totally false.
3. In view of the above, the Headquarters 81 Division Nigerian Army wishes to call on the good people of Lagos State to regard Shedrack Christopher as an impostor that has nothing to do with the Nigerian Army. Members of the public in Lagos and environs are requested to continue to provide credible information to security agencies so as to effectively checkmate criminal activities especially in 81 Division Areas of Responsibility. ” The army said.
