‘Sack Wike now’ – Protesters storm APC National Secretariat in Abuja

Published

on

A group of protesters on Thursday laid siege to the national headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, calling on President Bola Tinubu to remove the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, from office.

The demonstrators, chanting “Sack Wike now,” accused the former Rivers State governor of actions they described as incompatible with the interests of the ruling party and national cohesion.

Recall that President Tinubu appointed Wike as FCT Minister despite his membership of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a decision that has continued to stir controversy within political circles.

Wike has remained embroiled in internal disputes within the PDP and has also been linked to rising tensions involving leaders across party lines.

Reports indicate that the minister recently cautioned the APC’s National Secretary to stay out of Rivers State politics, further escalating political friction.

As of the time of filing this report, security operatives were monitoring the situation at the APC headquarters, while party officials had yet to issue an official response.

More details to follow.
