Fuel price rises twice in 24 hours as NNPCL, marketers adjust pump rates
Petrol prices have increased twice within 24 hours across Abuja, following fresh adjustments by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and private fuel marketers.
Checks on Thursday revealed that NNPCL outlets are now selling petrol at ₦875 per litre in some parts of the Federal Capital Territory. This latest increase came just a day after the company raised the price to ₦839 per litre on Wednesday, up from ₦815.
The new price is already in effect at NNPCL filling stations in areas such as Gwarimpa, Kubwa Express, Wuse Zones 4 and 6, and other locations in Abuja.
A fuel attendant at one of the stations confirmed that the new rate began on Thursday after staff were notified the previous night.
With the latest adjustment, petrol prices at NNPCL outlets have risen by ₦60 per litre within one day.
Private fuel marketers have also reviewed their pump prices upward. Filling stations operated by Ranoil, Empire Energy, and others in Abuja are now selling petrol for between ₦899 and ₦900 per litre.
Similarly, MRS filling stations increased their price by ₦100, now selling petrol at ₦839 per litre, according to a manager at one of the outlets.
The recent surge in pump prices is linked to an increase in ex-depot prices by Dangote Refinery and other depot operators, which reportedly climbed above ₦799 per litre.
