The Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) has announced the suspension of its nationwide industrial action after 84 days, paving the way for the federal government to commence full execution of the agreements earlier reached with the union.

The resolution was taken at an expanded emergency hybrid session of JOHESU’s National Executive Council (NEC), which convened on Friday in Abuja.

JOHESU had begun an indefinite strike on November 14, 2025, citing the federal government’s inability to fully implement the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) as the major reason for the action.

According to a communiqué jointly signed by the union’s National Chairman, Kabiru Ado Minjibir, and National Secretary, Comrade Martin Adekunle Egbanubi, the NEC unanimously agreed to halt the strike following “exhaustive deliberations” and an assessment of outcomes from a recent conciliation meeting with government representatives.

The communiqué further disclosed that both JOHESU and the federal government resolved to rely on the ongoing Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) process to tackle all unresolved issues, including defects, gaps, and lapses in implementation dating back to 2009.
