Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has declared that his administration has launched a firm and decisive push against insecurity, expressing confidence that the threat will be completely eliminated.

He also commended the Federal Government for its continued support in tackling banditry and other criminal activities in the state.

Governor Alia stressed the need for unity, shared responsibility, and sustained prayers in restoring peace and promoting socio-economic development across Benue.

The governor made these remarks on Wednesday evening while hosting Muslim faithful to an Iftar at the New Banquet Hall of the Government House in Makurdi, describing the gathering as spiritually significant and a reflection of unity.

Highlighting the coincidence of Ramadan and Lent, Alia noted that the period presents a rare opportunity to strengthen interfaith harmony and collective prayers for the state and the nation.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, the governor urged residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies by providing timely and credible information.

He assured that his administration would continue to implement strategic measures aimed at safeguarding lives and property across all parts of the state.

“This rare convergence of Ramadan and Lent is a divine opportunity for us to unite in prayers for our state and nation,” he said.

Addressing ongoing security challenges, Alia acknowledged the difficulties his administration inherited but maintained that his government remains proactive and determined to tackle criminality head-on.

“While insecurity remains a concern, we are resolute in confronting it. With sustained efforts and God’s grace, we shall overcome. This monster called insecurity must be defeated,” he stated.

Reaffirming his economic vision, the governor called for collaboration among stakeholders to reposition Benue as a viable destination for investment.

“You may not like me, but that is not important. What matters is loving Benue and working together to make it great again,” he added.
