The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested an Abuja-based property agent, Hajia Adama Ahmed Adamu, over an alleged N288 million fraud.

The Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Commission disclosed that the arrest followed a petition filed by a complainant accusing Adamu of fraudulent dealings.

According to the EFCC, the suspect allegedly collected N288 million from Alhaji Tanko Yawale under the pretext of facilitating the purchase of a property at House 31, Haile Selassie Street, Asokoro, Abuja.

Investigations revealed that after receiving the payment, Adamu failed to provide valid ownership documents for the property, raising concerns over the legitimacy of the transaction.

“Hajia Adamu allegedly failed to provide the complainant with valid documents for the property and subsequently became evasive, prompting a formal petition to the EFCC,” the Commission said in a statement.

Following the petition, EFCC operatives tracked and arrested the suspect in connection with the alleged fraud.
