Police AIG dies after battle with cancer
Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 9 Headquarters, Umuahia, AIG Kanayo Uzuegbu, has passed away following a battle with cancer.
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, announced the death on Sunday in Umuahia, describing the late police chief as a dedicated and professional officer who served the country with commitment throughout his career in the Nigeria Police Force.
The governor expressed sadness over the loss, noting that Uzuegbu distinguished himself through diligence, hard work and unwavering service to the nation.
Otti also offered prayers for the repose of the deceased officer’s soul and asked God to grant his family, colleagues, friends and loved ones the fortitude to cope with the painful loss.
A minute of silence was observed in honour of the late AIG during an event at the International Conference Centre in Umuahia, where the governor made the announcement.
The death of Uzuegbu has cast a shadow over the police community in Zone 9 and beyond, with officers and associates mourning a man widely respected for his years of service and leadership within the force.
