The Otukpo-Nobi community in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State has held a mass burial for residents killed during the recent attack by suspected armed herders.

The burial ceremony brought together grieving families, community leaders, traditional rulers, religious figures and sympathisers, who gathered to pay their last respects to the victims amid tears and mourning.

IDOMA VOICE recalls that the attack occurred on Sunday when suspected armed herders invaded Otukpo-Nobi community in the early hours of the day, killing eight persons and leaving several others injured.

The assault forced many residents to flee their homes and heightened fears over the worsening security situation in the area.

During the burial, mourners described the killings as devastating and called on the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to end the recurring attacks on farming communities and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

Prayers were offered for the deceased, while community members urged authorities to provide lasting security to prevent further bloodshed.

The mass burial marks another painful moment for the Otukpo-Nobi community as families continue to mourn loved ones lost in the deadly assault.
