The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a suspected supplier of ammunition and logistics to bandits and kidnappers, identified as Yau Sule.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi, disclosed this during a press briefing in Abuja on Friday.

According to the police commissioner, the arrest followed a strategic intelligence-led operation that led to the capture of Sule, a native of Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, who had been on the Command’s wanted list since 2023.

CP Sanusi said the suspect was tracked and apprehended on June 2, 2026, while travelling along the Abuja-Kaduna Highway.

Items recovered from him included 81 rounds of 7.62mm live AK-47 ammunition and 100 rounds of 7.62mm belted ammunition meant for a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG).

The commissioner revealed that Sule, who is wanted by security agencies across several North-Central states, subsequently led police operatives to the arrest of his sister, Maria Sule. She is the wife of Buhari Shuaibu, a wanted bandit currently at large and allegedly responsible for terrorising communities in the FCT, Kaduna, and Niger states.

He alleged that Maria Sule was also involved in supplying ammunition to her brother for distribution to terrorists and bandits.

Preliminary investigations, according to the police, have linked the suspects to a network of logistics and ammunition suppliers supporting criminal groups operating in Kaduna, Niger State, and border communities within the FCT.

In a separate operation, CP Sanusi disclosed that operatives of the FCT Police Command’s Anti-Violent Crime Unit (VCRU) Sector 5, working with personnel from the Zuba Division, arrested three suspected kidnappers at Runji Village in Zuba, Gwagwalada Area Council.

He said the arrests followed digital forensic investigations and actionable intelligence coordinated by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Ogu Caleb Ikechukwu.

The operation was carried out on May 25, 2026, at about 3:22 a.m., leading to the arrest of the suspects at their hideout after they were identified in viral videos circulating on social media.

The suspects were identified as Umar Babangida, 25; Adamu Yeti, 22; and Yahaya Idris, 24, all residents of Rijana in Kaduna State.

CP Sanusi explained that the Command’s attention had been drawn to videos and photographs showing four individuals armed with AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and walkie-talkies while dressed in military camouflage.

He said he immediately ordered a comprehensive forensic investigation into the origin of the content and directed the arrest of all individuals connected to the videos.
