Video shows suspected bandits flaunting alleged ransom cash
A video purportedly showing armed bandits displaying large sums of cash allegedly obtained from ransom payments has surfaced online, raising fresh concerns about the growing insecurity in Nigeria.
The footage was shared on Saturday by security analyst and conflict reporter Bakatsine via his X account.
Sharing the video, Bakatsine wrote: “This video shows bandits flaunting money obtained through ransom payments. May Allah bring an end to this tragedy and grant Nigeria lasting peace.”
Kidnapping for ransom remains one of Nigeria’s most serious security challenges, particularly in the North-West and parts of the North-Central, where armed groups have repeatedly targeted communities, travellers, schools, and farmers.
Despite ongoing military operations aimed at dismantling criminal gangs, incidents of attacks and abductions continue to be reported across several states.
