Police arrest suspect, recover locally made pistol, tramadol in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a suspected criminal and recovered a locally made pistol, ammunition and other illegal items in Ibadan.

The Command disclosed this in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, and made available to journalists on Monday.

Ayanlade said the suspect was arrested on July 11 by police operatives in the Bodija area of Ibadan and is currently in custody.

According to the statement, officers recovered a locally fabricated pistol, one live cartridge, sachets of substances suspected to be Tramadol, and a passport photograph believed to belong to one of the fleeing suspects.

The police spokesperson said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects who escaped during the operation.

He explained that during a search, one of the suspects allegedly threw a small bag into a nearby drainage, while two others fled the scene on a motorcycle.

“The third suspect, Hammed Lateef, was arrested. A search of the discarded bag led to the recovery of one locally fabricated pistol, one live cartridge, sachets of substances suspected to be Tramadol, and a passport photograph believed to belong to one of the fleeing suspects,” Ayanlade said.
