Troops of the Nigerian Army have repelled an attempted bandit attack on Unguwar Fadi community in Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State, forcing the attackers to retreat.

Security analyst Bakatsine disclosed the incident in a post on X on Tuesday, saying the attack occurred on Monday night.

According to him, the bandits stormed the community but withdrew after troops of the 17 Brigade responded to a distress call and moved in swiftly.

The military intervention reportedly prevented further casualties and destruction during the attack.

However, a resident, Usman Shitu, popularly known as Abba Shago, was shot during the incident and later died from his injuries.
