NSCDC confirms death of 15-year-old boy after drowning in Dutse pond

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, has confirmed the death of a 15-year-old boy, Isah Muhammad, who drowned in a pond popularly known as Sterling Pond in Dutse Local Government Area of the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists.

According to the statement, the command received a distress call over the incident and immediately deployed personnel from the Takur Site Division to the scene.

The incident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday after the teenager, a resident of Bokoto Quarters in Dutse, reportedly went swimming in the pond located along Disina Road.

NSCDC operatives evacuated the victim to the General Hospital, Dutse, where a doctor confirmed him dead.

The corps said the body was later released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

Reacting to the incident, the Jigawa State Commandant of the NSCDC, Muhammad Kabiru Ingawa, expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.

He prayed for Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and give his family the strength to bear the loss.
