Matchweek 3 of the 2026/27 Premier League season delivered drama, late goals and strong performances. Arsenal and Manchester City maintained their perfect starts, while Liverpool finally recorded their first win of the campaign.

Liverpool Finally Get Their First Win

Liverpool opened the weekend with a 2-0 victory over newly promoted Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

Alexander Isak scored twice inside the opening nine minutes. The Sweden international struck in the sixth and ninth minutes, with Cody Gakpo providing the assists for both goals.

The result gave Liverpool their first league win of the season. It also moved them to five points from their opening three matches.

Manchester City Maintain Perfect Start

Manchester City continued their winning run with a narrow 1-0 victory over Coventry City at the Etihad Stadium.

Erling Haaland scored the only goal of the match. The striker also reached a major milestone by recording his 300th top-flight club goal.

City have now won all three of their league matches. They remain among the early leaders in the Premier League.

Newcastle Held by Bournemouth

Newcastle United and Bournemouth shared the points after a 2-2 draw at St James’ Park.

Bournemouth continued their unusual start to the season. They have scored first in all three league matches but are yet to win any of them.

Crystal Palace Claim First Victory

Crystal Palace came from behind to beat Fulham 3-2 at Craven Cottage.

The victory gave Palace their first three points of the season. Fulham, meanwhile, suffered another setback after conceding three goals at home.

Brentford and Sunderland drew 1-1, while Brighton and Leeds United also shared the points after a 1-1 draw.

Goalless Draws Continue

Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur played out a 0-0 draw.

The result gave Tottenham their first point of the season. Forest were left frustrated after VAR ruled out a goal.

Hull City and Aston Villa also finished 0-0. Villa are still searching for their first league victory.

Everton Rescue Point Against Manchester United

Everton produced one of the weekend’s biggest comebacks to draw 2-2 with Manchester United.

Bryan Mbeumo put United ahead before Tyrique George equalised for Everton. Benjamin Sesko then looked to have secured victory for United with an 88th-minute header.

Everton refused to give up. Debutant Ainsley Maitland-Niles struck deep into stoppage time with a spectacular long-range effort.

The late goal rescued a point for Everton and denied United their first victory of the season.

Arsenal Complete Comeback Against Chelsea

The weekend ended with a London derby between Arsenal and Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.

Chelsea took the lead after just 77 seconds through Morgan Rogers. The goal continued Chelsea’s remarkable early-scoring trend.

The Blues have now scored the earliest goal in each of their three Premier League matches this season.

Arsenal responded through Kai Havertz before Martin Ødegaard completed the comeback shortly after half-time.

The 2-1 victory gave Arsenal three wins from three matches. They now have nine points and remain level with Manchester City at the top of the table.

Chelsea suffered their first defeat of the season and remain on six points.

Premier League Race Takes Shape

After three rounds, Arsenal and Manchester City have made perfect starts. Liverpool have finally secured their first win, while Chelsea remain a major attacking threat despite their first defeat.

Matchweek 3 also highlighted the competitiveness of the new season. Several matches went down to the final stages, while promoted teams continue to show they can compete at this level.
