Four suspected terrorist family members, infant surrender to troops in Borno
Four members of a family linked to a suspected terrorist group have surrendered to troops of Operation HADIN KAI in Borno State.
The group, which included an eight-month-old infant, reportedly surrendered along the Gwoza–Limankara road at about 1:35 p.m. on September 6.
According to military sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama, preliminary investigations showed that the individuals fled the Hiduwa terrorist enclave located in the Mandara Mountains in Gwoza Local Government Area.
The sources said the family members informed the troops that severe shortages of basic necessities at the camp compelled them to abandon the enclave in search of safety.
The four individuals, including the infant, have since been taken into military custody and are currently receiving care while security authorities carry out further screening and investigation into their background and circumstances.
