Sonny Echono to provide free medical services across Benue in five-day outreach
Residents of Benue State are set to benefit from a five-day free mega medical outreach scheduled to hold from Tuesday, October 27, to Saturday, October 31, 2026.
The outreach is being organised under the initiative of Architect Sonny S. T. Echono, National Coordinator of the North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network for Tinubu/Shettima 2027.
The programme is expected to provide free medical services to residents across the state’s three senatorial zones, with treatment and other healthcare services available at designated hospitals.
Services to be provided include treatment for malaria, cough, skin diseases, intestinal worms and other common illnesses, as well as eye examinations, cataract surgery, reading glasses, dental care, teeth cleaning and extraction.
The outreach will also offer blood pressure and blood sugar checks, hernia operations and other minor surgeries, medical care for pregnant women, free mosquito nets and deworming services for children.
According to the organisers, all services will be provided absolutely free of charge, with no registration, consultation, drug or surgery fees.
In Zone A, covering Benue North-East, the designated venues are General Hospital, Katsina-Ala, and General Hospital, Vandeikya.
In Zone B, covering Benue North-West, services will be available at General Hospital, Makurdi, and General Hospital, Gboko.
For Zone C, Benue South, the venues are the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital, Otukpo, and General Hospital, Ugbokpo.
Residents have been advised to come with their hospital cards, antenatal cards, children’s clinic cards, previous medical records and eyeglasses, where applicable.
The organisers also encouraged residents to inform their neighbours, friends and family members about the programme to enable more people to benefit from the free healthcare services.
The outreach carries the message: “Healthy People, Stronger Communities,” with a call on residents to take advantage of the initiative to access medical care without financial barriers.
Dr Hassan Ocholi, Director-General, is listed as the announcer of the programme.
