Senate Minority Leader and Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Patrick Moro, has secured the solidarity of former members of the House of Representatives from the zone ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former federal lawmakers pledged their support for Moro’s return to the Senate following a closed-door meeting with the senator to discuss the political future, unity and development of Benue South, also known as Zone C.
According to a statement issued on October 20, 2026, by the Director-General of the SAM 27 Campaign Organisation, Rt. Hon. George Alli, the meeting was held in a convivial atmosphere, with participants deliberating on issues affecting the district.
Former House of Representatives members present at the meeting included Hon. Bernard Ochepa, Hon. Elder Adikpe, Hon. Dave Idoko, Hon. Nelson Alapa and Hon. Samuel Godday.
Three other former lawmakers — Hon. Sam Obande, Hon. Agbo Ogah and Hon. Ezekiel Adaji — were said to have sent apologies for their absence while conveying their support for Moro’s re-election bid.
The statement said the former lawmakers unanimously agreed to rally behind the senator, citing his representation of the district, leadership as Senate Minority Leader and contributions to legislative development.
They particularly commended his role in sponsoring bills that led to the establishment of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) and the Federal College of Agricultural Technology, Opialu-Ojapo, both of which, according to the statement, have been signed into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The former lawmakers reportedly described Moro as a source of pride to the Idoma nation and expressed support for his continued representation of Benue South in the Senate.
Moro, in his response, thanked the former lawmakers for their solidarity and pledged to sustain people-oriented representation while attracting more development projects to the district.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to promoting unity and progress across Benue South.
The senator was accompanied to the meeting by Barr. John Ochoga, Rt. Hon. George Alli, Hon. Williams Edoh, Hon. Johnson Egli and Hon. Adah Ikwom.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by the participants to work together for the development of the district, as political alignments begin to take shape ahead of the 2027 elections.
