The Nasarawa State Police Command has announced temporary traffic diversions and movement restrictions in parts of Lafia ahead of the All Progressives Congress APC presidential campaign rally scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, 2026.

The rally is expected to coincide with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to the state capital and attract government officials, political leaders, party supporters and other dignitaries.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, November 3, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the measures were part of security and traffic management arrangements to ensure the safety of the President, his entourage, rally participants and members of the public.

According to the statement, the restrictions will affect designated routes, adjoining roads and strategic locations within Lafia metropolis to facilitate the movement of the presidential convoy and ensure effective crowd control.

The Command advised motorists, commercial tricycle operators, motorcycle riders and other road users to cooperate with security personnel, obey traffic regulations and follow instructions at designated diversion points.

Commuters were also urged to plan their journeys ahead of time, allow for possible delays and use alternative routes as directed by security operatives.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohamed, appealed to residents to remain calm, exercise patience and cooperate with security personnel throughout the exercise.

He cautioned against unnecessary movement around restricted areas, urging those without legitimate business at the rally venue and designated security zones to stay away.

The Commissioner also urged political stakeholders and supporters of different parties to conduct themselves peacefully and avoid actions capable of disrupting public order.

“The Command assures the public that adequate security personnel have been deployed to strategic locations across the metropolis to maintain law and order, manage traffic, protect lives and property, and ensure the peaceful and successful conduct of the Presidential campaign rally,” the statement read.

The police urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements, unattended objects and other security concerns to the nearest police station.

The Command regretted any inconvenience the temporary arrangements might cause and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
