2027: Opposition criticism won’t weaken Tinubu’s support in North – APC
The All Progressives Congress APC Presidential Campaign Council has said criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration will not weaken his political support base in northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.
A member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, stated this on Tuesday while reacting to criticism from opposition groups, insisting that the President retained strong support across the region.
Kwankwaso said Tinubu’s supporters had no reason to panic or withdraw their backing, maintaining that opposition attacks would not change their determination to vote for the President.
“There is no panic and no going back in our support for Tinubu. The criticisms coming from the opposition will not stop us from voting for him in the North,” he said.
He described the opposition’s criticism as political manoeuvring ahead of the 2027 elections, arguing that it would not erode what he called the President’s growing support in the region.
The APC chieftain said northern voters were concerned about issues such as economic recovery, security, infrastructure development, employment and national stability.
He also claimed that the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration since assuming office had continued to strengthen confidence among its supporters.
Kwankwaso added that the President’s supporters would intensify grassroots mobilisation across northern communities to explain government policies and highlight the administration’s achievements.
He urged APC members to remain focused, strengthen party structures and maintain regular engagement with voters ahead of the elections.
