2023: Why Nigerians will not support Igbo presidency – Buba Galadima
A former ally of President Muhammadu Buhari, Buba Galadima, has told people from the South East geopolitical zone to ‘remove Igbo Presidency’ from their dictionary, saying that Nigerians would not vote for an Igbo presidency in the 2023 election.
Galadima stated this on Monday during an interview on Arise Television The Morning Show.
The elder statesman said that the people will support a candidate from South-East, but not “Igbo presidency”.
He said “I have a lot of friends from South East, I can vote for any of them if they present themselves but I am not agreeing to “Igbo presidency”
Ahead of the 2023 presidential election there have been growing calls for the presidential to return to the south, particularly the South-east.
Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state is reportedly plotting to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) over their failure to zone the presidency to the south-east.
Ohanaeze Ndigo Youth Council also called on the PDP to zone the presidency to the region or experience major defections.
Senators Rochas Okoracha and Orji Uzor Kalu have been seen touring different parts of the country, especially in the North, to align themselves with political heavyweights in the country.
