General Manager of Benue State Environmental Sanitation Authority (BENSESA), Rt. Hon Solomon Onah, today Saturday, 26th February, 2022, led the monitoring team of the agency to supervise the monthly environmental sanitation exercise in Makurdi and it’s envrons.

Speaking to pressmen shortly after the exercise, Hon Onah thanked the personnel of the Nigerian Police, Road Safety, Peace Corps, Livestock Guards, members of the Benue State Volunteer Guards and other paramilitary agencies for their efforts which resulted to better performance today, soliciting for their support in subsequent exercises.

He said, residents, shops owners, motorists, motorcyclists and pedestrians complied fully with the exercise as shops, motor parks except the abattoirs were shutdown even as few pedestrians and motorcyclists were seen moving, a development he said could also be attributed to the ongoing fuel scarcity nationwide.
The General Manager said, the agency would have performed better if not faced with inadequate number of personnel, calling on the state government to employ more capable hands.

He urged the public to always participate in the one-day exercise by remaining in their various homes to clean their environments, reiterating the stand and readiness of the agency of always arresting anyone found violating the stay-at-home order between 7-9am on the last Saturday of every month.

As usual with the principle of the agency, defaulters of the exercise were arrested, their vehicles confiscated and were made to face the mobile court at the premise of the environmental agency.

The General Manager was accompanied by the indefatigable Secretary, Adzuu Nats, heads of departments, health workers of the agency and security agents from the police, road safety, Livestock guards, Volunteer corps, Peace Corps and personnel of other paramilitary agencies.

Areas of the state capital monitored by the team during the exercise include: Mobile barracks, Makurdi Modern Market, Wadata, High Level, Wurukum and North Bank.
