The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has disowned the G-9 Benue South Progressives Forum.

The party said G-9 is not an arm of the APC and as such has no right to speak for the party in Benue south.

A statement released by Amb Martinez Ibn Tyotsumeh,
Director of Media and Publicity, All Progressives Congress (APC) Secretariat, Makurdi Benue State states below.

It has become necessary for us as a political party to make a public statement and clear the air over the incessant media activities of a group known as G-9 Benue South Progressives Forum, which has severally claimed affiliation with our party, the All Progressives Congress, APC.

We wish to categorically state in clear terms that G-9 is an independent pressure group, functioning on its own without any affiliation with the All Progressives Congress (APC), and at no time has the APC registered the group as a support group or association under the party.

There is no gainsaying the fact that some members of the group, G-9, are also registered members of APC at their various wards, nevertheless, that does not in any way make the group a part of APC.

A glance at the membership content of the groups shows clearly that it’s members cut across all political parties, and their agenda is manifestly not interndem with the Interest and the electoral projects of our party, APC.

This clarification has become imperative in view of the group’s apparent offensive activities, which recently resulted in a physical combat amongst the members at the Wuye office of former Senate President, Chief Ameh Ebute in Abuja, where some members freely used harmful objects & weapons against one another.

As a political party with focus on bringing dividends of democracy to Nigerians, we will always denounce such infamous conducts, and desociate out party from such group and it’s retrogressive activities.

While we can not, as a Party, stop our members from belonging to any association of their choices, we must however caution that membership of any group which modus operandi is inimical to the interest of our party, is tantamount to anti-party activities and we shall take such hostile members as enemies of our party.

We therefore urge any of our members who is involved in the G-9 activisties or who has any grievance against the party, to make use of our Party’s internal mechanism to address such grievances.

We call on all party faithful to remain focus as we work hard to deliver total victory for out Party in the next year general elections.
