The family of 27-year-old Miss Chinyere Awuda, whose lifeless body was found in an abandoned swimming pool at a hotel in Awka on July 16, has officially lodged a petition with the Anambra Commissioner of Police. The family firmly believes that their daughter fell victim to a deliberate and premeditated act of murder.

According to their account, Chinyere had gone clubbing on the fateful night but tragically ended up lifeless in the abandoned pool on the hotel premises the next morning.

Through their legal representative, Eziafa Enwedo, the Awuda family alleges that their daughter was brutally murdered, and they question the lack of resistance from the hotel management during the heinous act. They claim that the suspects responsible for the crime viciously beat Chinyere to death while nightclub and hotel security stood idly by.

Despite facing pressure to close the case, the family is steadfast in demanding a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding their daughter’s death. They are determined to uncover the truth and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The petition, titled “Call for Thorough Investigation of Conspiracy, Murder With Intent to Commit Rituals; Accessory After the Fact to Murder Miss Chinyere Awuda, Attempt to Compound Felony by Coaxing the Deceased Family into Accepting Settlement Before Conclusion of Investigation,” targets several individuals, including Chinemere Hope Gabriel (aka Bullion Van), Steven Junior (aka Exclusive), and the hotel management.

The family is also requesting the hotel management to provide a comprehensive CCTV video capturing the entire sequence of events, both inside the club where the beating initially occurred and outside where the fatal murder took place. They claim that the currently circulating footage is unclear and insufficient in providing answers to their questions.

In response, Cosmila Hotel, where the incident occurred, expressed deep regret over the tragedy but denied any involvement in the unfortunate event. The hotel refutes the family’s claims and certain media reports, stating that the deceased was neither beaten to death nor dumped in the swimming pool. Instead, they acknowledge a party took place on the premises where money was sprayed, and the deceased was singled out and attacked by the party organizers.

While offering their condolences to the family, the hotel asserts its commitment to acting in the best interest of the public and is willing to cooperate fully with the investigation. They confirm the presence of CCTV footage capturing the incident.
