End SARS: Stop this madness now – Arewa group sends strong message to Buhari over protest

A Northern group under the auspices of Arewa Youth Assembly, AYA, has called on President Muhammad Buhari to end the ongoing protest in Nigeria.

AYA urged the Buhari-led government to protect Nigerians against the activities of hoodlums that have hijacked the peaceful anti-SARS protest.

It called on President Buhari to act swiftly and put an end to all what it described as “madness” being exhibited on the streets since the aim is been compromised.

The group made the call in a statement by its Speaker, Mohammed Salihu Danlami.

According to the group: “In light of the current happenings in various part of the country, with regards to the #Endsars protest, our attention has been drawn to the activities of hoodlums across the country who have taken charge of the process to perpetrate their evil act by causing menace to an already agitated society.

“Only this morning, the news of the unfortunate jail break in Benin correctional center, we fear if this is going to become the trend of events, if measures are not put in place, this might escalate to further mayhem which will be capable of creating turmoil all around the country. This is not good for the peace we have so far enjoyed and not also good for the intention of the youth protest.

“We are no longer comfortable with what might come up next, Nigeria is not a banana republic, everyone must be reminded of this fact.

“Again, we will resist any attempt to undermine the peace we enjoyed. It’s Nigeria first before any individual.”
