Governor Samuel Ortom today defied the early downpour and visited the family of the late rape victim, Miss Ochanya Ogbaje in their country home, Ogene Amejo in Okpokwu Local Government Area of the state.

The Governor reiterated his administration’s determination to ensure justice for Ochanya to serve as deterrent to others who defile minors.

He stated that a lawyer has been specifically assigned to handle the case to get justice for the deceased.

He also made it known that LGEA Primary School Ogene, Ochanya’s village would be given a complete facelift and more teachers would be recruited to ensure quality education for children in the area to avoid a repeat of the sad incident.

Governor Ortom noted that he had already directed that the school be renamed after the late Ochanya in memory of the heroine, assuring that contractors would soon be mobilised to commence renovation of the school.

He commiserated with the family over the unfortunate incident and prayed God to grant their daughter eternal rest.

Governor Ortom was accompanied to Ochanya’s village by the State Head of Service, Mrs. Veronica Onyeke and other top government functionaries.

It would be recalled that 13-year old Elizabeth Ochanya Ogbaje, died in October 2018 due to complications from reported rape by her foster father, Andrew Ogbuja and his son, Victor.
