Francis Ottah Agbo, a member of the 9th House of Representatives representing Ado, Okpokwu Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, was honoured with the prestigious Idoma Man of the Year award on Tuesday.

The recognition took place at the recently concluded 11th edition of the Idoma International Carnival (IIC 2023).

Chief Edwin Ochai, the president and founder of the carnival, disclosed that Ottah was chosen by the award committee from a pool of distinguished nominees due to his outstanding performance in the 9th assembly.

The organizers highlighted Ottah’s significant contributions during his tenure as chairman of the House Committee on Drugs and Narcotics.

His initiatives included the sponsorship and advocacy of crucial bills and motions that addressed the needs and concerns of the Enone people.

The organisers also noted Ottah’s efforts extended to the facilitation of job opportunities for Idoma youths in both public and private sectors.

Chief Edwin Ochai encouraged Ottah not to rest on his oars but to persist in his community engagement even after leaving office.

Ottah, in his post-award remarks, expressed gratitude to the organizers for deeming him worthy of the honour among the millions of Idoma people.

He pledged that the recognition would serve as motivation to intensify his efforts in serving the people of Enone, Benue State, and the nation at large.

Ottah also commended Prince Edwin Ochai, the president of the Idoma International Carnival, for his tireless commitment to consistently and consciously promote the rich cultural heritage of the Idoma people over the years.

He promised to partner with the organizers in their ongoing endeavours to sustain and celebrate the unique culture of the Idoma community.
