The Lagos State Government has sealed DONALD Restaurant, a nightlife hotspot owned by popular entrepreneur Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, over environmental infractions.

The closure followed the arrest of two restaurant staff members who were caught illegally dumping refuse by the roadside in the Lekki area of Lagos.

The Managing Director/CEO of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, disclosed the incident via his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

According to Gbadegesin, the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, May 18, 2025, when the Chairman of the Lekki Estate Residents Association (LERA) reported the illegal dumping along Durosimi-Etti Street in Lekki Phase 1.

“A white Ford van bearing Abuja registration number GWA 136E was caught in the act of indiscriminately discharging waste,” Gbadegesin stated.

The vehicle was traced back to DONALD Restaurant, located on Road 14 within the estate. The suspects were apprehended on the scene by LERA’s Chief Security Officer and held at the LERA Secretariat.

In a shocking twist, the suspects reportedly attempted to bribe the security team with ₦100,000—a gesture that was promptly rejected.

LAWMA’s Monitoring and Compliance Team responded swiftly, took the suspects into custody, and sealed the restaurant premises for gross violation of the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law of 2017.

Gbadegesin affirmed that the offenders will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

“LAWMA remains fully committed to enforcing environmental regulations throughout Lagos. We urge all businesses and residents to adopt proper waste management practices. A clean and livable environment is a shared responsibility,” he stated.
