Muslim-Muslim ticket: Two southern govs set to dump APC, consider LP, NNPP

Barring any last minute change of mind, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, is set to lose two of its governors from southern part of the country.

This development, IDOMA VOICE gathered, might not be unconnected to the decision of the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu to pick a fellow Muslim as his running mate.

IDOMA VOICE recalls that Tinubu had announced Kashim Shettima as his running mate on Sunday.

Shettima, a former governor of Borno State, is now a member of the senate.

The development, IDOMA VOICE gathered did not go down well with some governors of southern extraction, who have threatened to dump the party.

One of the governors, it was gathered, is from the southeast, who asserted that Tinubu ignored their preferred vice presidential candidate for Shettima.

According to a source, the governor, who joined the APC not too long ago, is considering pitching his tent with Labour Party.

“Just like Atiku, the governors had nominated a northern Christian for Tinubu but few persons insisted he must pick a Muslim to get bloc votes from the north.

“Two of them have made up their mind to leave the party. They are considering Labour Party of Kwankwaso’s NNPP,” the source said.
