N107bn fraud: EFCC goes tough on Oklobia, Wombo, Sambe, others

An Abuja Chief Magistrate Court has ordered that bank accounts of some former Benue officials recently arrested by the EFCC for alleged corruption, be frozen.

The state’s Attorney general and Commissioner for Justice, Mike Gusa announced this on Thursday.
The former officials are being investigated over an alleged looting of over N107bn belonging to state government.

According to Gusa, those affected include former Benue State Commissioner of Finance, Omadachi Oklobia; former Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Solomon Wombo; former Permanent Secretary in the Bureau, Asen Sambe; the accountant of the bureau, Isaiah Ipevnor; and 12 others.

“Since these people were arrested and investigation is still going on, the Police decided to obtain order from court to put every transaction around their accounts on hold, pending when investigation would be completed”.

Gusa said the order has been served to all concerned banks and also revealed that over N250m has been recovered from the suspects.
