Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon shed light on a critical challenge facing actors in Nigeria’s film industry. He expressed concern over what he termed as the distressing underpayment of thespians in Nollywood.

Okanlawon, joined by fellow actor Daniel Etim-Effiong, emphasized that the compensation provided to actors is disproportionately low, and he lamented that the industry’s financial landscape does not empower them adequately to safeguard their future.

Etim-Effiong chimed in, emphasizing that the constraints within the Nigerian movie industry extend beyond just financial remuneration. He indicated that the system often falls short in providing actors with sufficient resources, including both financial support and ample time for role preparation and personal growth.

This candid discussion underscores the need for reforms to enhance the working conditions and financial well-being of Nollywood actors, addressing issues of underpayment and limited professional development opportunities.
