Let me start by saying no one should persecute Dr Dickson Akoh because of his political decision. It is his right to do so. This is because politics in Nigeria is different from politics every where else. It is not of Ideology but of interest. It is liquid, fluid, and high octane. Its failsafe mode is its ability to bring into sharper focus the chameleonic nature of man.

Dickson Akoh has shown he is as adept at the game as the next politician by becoming the running mate to the gubernatorial candidate of the SDP the same day he dumped APC to join it. Maybe this was his plan B all along otherwise how do you explain his name featuring in his new party’s INEC form after the deadline for substitution had passed? It would have been a comedy of errors had he been chosen as the APC running mate to deputize Emmanuel Jime while at the same time he is presented as the Deputy for Hwande especially since the APC waited until the date of the deadline to officially announce its pick. My only anger here is that the APC denied me of this comedic relief of cosmic proportions?

Nevertheless there is nothing wrong in what Dickson Akoh has done. He is only hankering after where his interest is served. Afterall, Governor Ortom one of the most strategic politician in Benue moved from the PDP to the APC in Dec 2014 and picked it gubernatorial ticket the next day. He moved back to PDP this year when the APC leadership became hostile to him, and picked its gubernatorial ticket. Mr. Akoh is second only to Ortom in Benue in this.

Mr Akoh entry into the race is bound to shake things up. He and Dr Sam Ode are two of the most popular figures with the youth in Benue and particularly in Zone C. The only person in the PDP whose name is on the ballot and who could act as a counterbalance to the bulldozers that are these two is Comrade Abba Moro. Well…the race for Benue has just become a beauty to watch. We will see what happens.
