Plateau killings: Angry women set traditional ruler’s house ablaze
Angry women, protesting the aftermath of recent killings in several communities in Plateau State, set fire to the residence of the District Head of Bokkos town, Michal Monday Adanchi, on Friday. Bokkos town, located in Bokkos Local Government Area, was one of the areas where the violent incidents occurred.
The district head’s house was reportedly engulfed in flames around 12:30 on Friday. The women’s ire was fueled by the apprehension of some community members allegedly involved in the recent killings.
An eyewitness informed reporters that the unrest began at the police station, where the women expressed their displeasure over the arrest of community members. Subsequently, they proceeded to the residence of the traditional ruler, accusing him of betrayal, and within minutes of reaching the location, they set the house on fire.
The escalating violence prompted the intervention of soldiers, who dispersed the protesting women.
Confirming the arrests, the state police command acknowledged detaining eight individuals in connection with the attacks.
