Three individuals have been apprehended by the Bauchi State Police Command in connection with the tragic slaying of a police officer in Konkiyel village within the Darazo Local Government Area.

The victim, Police Constable Bala Nazifi Magaji, was assigned to the Darazo Divisional Police Headquarters at the time of his unfortunate demise. The incident occurred on July 25, 2023, while he was performing official duties in Anguwar Abuja within Konkiyel village.

As a result of a thorough investigation conducted by the command, three suspects have been taken into custody. The primary suspect, Aminu Mohammed, aged 35 and residing in Anguwar Sarkin, Baka Konkiyel village, was identified. Additionally, Abdullahi Abubakar, aged 23, from Bakin Kasuwa, Konkiyel village, and Balarabe Abubakar, aged 34, were also apprehended.

A statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, on Wednesday, revealed the arrest of these individuals. The suspects have reportedly admitted to their involvement in the brutal killing of the officer, employing a combination of machetes and sticks in the attack.

Aminu Mohammed, in particular, purportedly confessed that they seized the opportunity presented by the darkness of the hour. He revealed that he inflicted multiple machete wounds to the officer’s back, while his accomplices used stones and sticks to deliver blows to the head. These actions resulted in the officer’s demise due to the sustained injuries he sustained.

The authorities are diligently pursuing the apprehension of an additional six gang members who are currently evading capture.
