I’m a minority Muslim from Yoruba, how will I chose Emmanuel from Sokoto? – Tinubu

For the umpteenth time, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has defended his choice of a follow Muslim as running mate in 2023 presidential election.

Tinubu’s decison to pick Kashim Shettima, a fellow Muslim from Borno as deputy has stirred mixed reactions in the country, with many Christians vowing to vote against him.

However, Tinubu had on many occasions defended his action, insisting that it was a strategy to win northern votes.

Speaking during an interface with CAN leadership in Kano led by the state chairman, Rev. Samuel Adeyemo, Tinubu said he’s a minority Muslim and it would be out of place to pick a christian from the north.

“If you polarise Nigeria along religious lines, we will have bad leadership. We should not fight along religious lines. The way you pray for forgiveness as a Christian is the same way I pray for forgiveness as a Muslim.

“I know you would not want to be an enemy to the winning team. I am a politician, I have a formula, and my formula is to win election without rigging. I am a minority Muslim from Yoruba, how will I go and chose one Emmanuel from Sokoto…,” Tinubu said.
