Driver jailed 12 months for stealing motorcycle in Abuja

Attah MikeA 28-year-old driver, Musa Samaila, has been handed a 12-month jail term by a Grade 1 Area Court in Kabusa, Abuja, for the theft of a motorcycle.
Judge Malam Abubakar Sadiq, who presided over the case, sentenced the driver without the option of a fine, citing the recurrence of the offense.
The judge emphasized that the verdict aimed to deter others from engaging in similar criminal activities.
The prosecution, led by Mrs. C. C. Okafor, revealed that on December 30, 2023, the driver stole a motorcycle owned by Mr. Dauda Emmanuel. The stolen motorcycle was parked in the corridor of Emmanuel’s residence in Wanu Village, Kabusa.
The prosecutor highlighted that the act constituted a violation of Section 287 of the Penal Code.
