BREAKING: Popular Nollywood actor, Charles Olumo dies at 101

Nollywood icon Abdulsalam Sanyaolu, famously known as Agbako or Charles Olumo, has passed away at the age of 101.

The news was confirmed by fellow actor Jide Kosoko, who shared the sad announcement on Instagram on Thursday. While offering his condolences, Kosoko did not reveal further details about Agbako’s passing. In his tribute, he wrote, “Good night ooo, Baba Charles, a.k.a. Agbako, 102 years, ba wasa ba. R.I.P.”

Born on February 19, 1923, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Agbako began his career as a mechanic and amateur boxer before stepping into the world of acting in 1953 at the Apostolic Church in Mushin, Lagos State.

Over the years, he became a beloved figure in the Yoruba film industry, earning acclaim for his roles in notable films such as Taxi Driver, Jagun, Amin Orun, Aiye, Jayesinmi, Soworo Ide, and Igbo Dudu.

With a career spanning over four decades, Agbako’s versatility and dedication to the performing arts left an enduring impact on Nigerian cinema. He will be remembered as a pioneer and cherished figure in Nollywood’s history.
