P-Square’s ex-manager granted N50m bail

An Ikeja Special Offences Court has granted bail of N50 million to Jude Okoye, the former manager of P-Square, who is facing charges of stealing $1 million and £34,537.
Jude, the elder brother of Peter and Paul Okoye, is on trial alongside his company, Northside Music Ltd., for theft. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed the charges, but he pleaded not guilty.
Justice Rahman Oshodi, ruling on the bail application, stated that under Section 115 (2) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL), the court has the discretion to grant bail in non-capital offenses. He ruled in favor of the defendant, granting bail with conditions.
The bail terms include two sureties in like sum, proof of employment, and evidence of three years’ tax payments to the Lagos State Government. Jude must also submit his dual citizenship documents to the court, while the EFCC has been directed to inform immigration authorities to withhold his international passport.
The trial is set to commence on May 16.
